Alors que l’édition précédente accueillait les arbres pendus de Henrik Hakansson, artgenève 2015 fait place à une installation sonore réalisée par l’artiste suisse Ugo Rondinone, généreusement prêtée par la collection Michael Ringier.
La collection de l’éditeur Michael Ringier, curatée par Beatrix Ruf depuis 1995, rassemble plusieurs media de l’art contemporain tels que la photographie, la vidéo, la peinture, le dessin, les objets d’art ou encore l’installation – des années 1960 à nos jours. Suivant la vision du collectionneur, il ne s’agit pas de fixer de contrainte géographique ou de medium à la collection, mais de constituer attentivement un ensemble de pièces d’artistes choisis, dans l’optique toujours présente de les exposer au sein d’institutions publiques.

Incomplete cubes form a labyrinthine structure that can be walked through. The labyrinthine structure, (…) follows the shape of the specific exhibition space. (…)The drawings show single sequences from the story of a raven-man. The raven-man sits on the edge of the bed, gets up, goes into the bathroom, looks in the mirror, takes a leak, looks out of the window, leaves the house, walks through the city, goes to the countryside, climbs a tree, and sits down in a nest. The sequences are casually drawn on the steel modules and mark a narrative movement in space. A speaker is inserted in every module. Regular breathing above the sound of a didgeridoo comes from the speakers. The sound of two doors slamming, one after the other and from opposite directions, is heard at irregular intervals.
